One man electro/ folk aficionado James Yuill is just about to release his latest single, 'No Pins Allowed' on Moshi Moshi (yes them again, we know, we know), so to celebrate we thought it would be good to introduce those of you who haven't heard of him to his sound.
Folk music has been taking on many new guises of late, and one which seems to be growing in popularity is a hybrid of electronica and folk, cleverly (read annoyingly) labeled 'Folktronica'. Within this sub-genre James is master, beautifully and effortlessly blending glitchy electronic beats, folk acoustic guitars, keyboards and pop tinged vocals.
Posted below is one of his earlier releases, titled No Surprise which we reckon sums up his style and talent nicely.
Interestingly James was also featured in the recent 'Meet The Millenial's' Musictank event where a large panel of industry specialists brainstormed approaches to marketing James and his music...
