Signed to indie hit makers Sub Pop, the sensational Fleet Foxes have stacked up over 250,000 plays on their myspace page without having released anything at all. So, who are they then? Well, they are a five piece from Seattle being compared to Arcade Fire, the Polyphonic Spree, Midlake and Mercury Rev.
Their music is fully unorthodox, based on unconventional structures and ornate instrumentation, with tracks featuring tom drums, banjos, dulcimers, mandolins and organs. Vocally they are often choral and harmonic, sometimes even putting two songs together as one, building songs that have no chorus and that are surprisingly short.
Below is a track they gave away free called White Winter Hymnal, it builds, layers with harmony, tambourines, guitars, acoustic, electric and bass.
